Kane County

Kane County reports 30 municipalities wholly or partly within the county. Sheriff systems are kept separate from city and village systems, and cross-county municipalities link into the same broader municipal research model.

MUNICIPALITIES · OFFICIAL COUNTY DIRECTORY

Full Kane County municipal coverage.

All 30 municipalities in the current Kane County directory now have routes. St. Charles and Elgin have Kane-specific primary-record findings; Huntley redirects to the existing McHenry-canonical dossier so the same municipality is not maintained twice.

DOCUMENTED

ALPR / Flock Safety

Sheriff deployed 23 grant-funded Flock LPR cameras

A 2025 Kane County Sheriff contract-renewal packet states that the Sheriff originally received a 2023 grant to install 23 license-plate-reader cameras in public areas across Kane County. The Sheriff sought a $61,000 Flock renewal after the grant expired. NoRec treats 23 as the documented grant deployment baseline, not a independently field-verified 2026 installed count.

DOCUMENTED

Body-worn / in-car cameras

Getac body-worn and in-car camera systems

Kane County records document a five-year Getac in-car/body-worn-camera lease approved in 2020, and the Sheriff’s FY2025 budget presentation still identifies Getac body-worn cameras as an equipment expense. Current unit counts should be obtained from newer inventory records rather than inferred from the lease.

PUBLIC RECORDS · FOIA

Records and official sources.

Primary government records are preferred. Where practical, NoRec keeps a local archival copy alongside the official source so citations remain auditable if a government URL later changes.
