SITE TRACKING

NoRec.US does not intentionally profile its readers.

The public NoRec.US website does not require visitor accounts and does not intentionally use advertising trackers, behavioral analytics, tracking pixels, or browser-fingerprinting tools.

NoRec.US does not sell visitor information.

If that technical posture changes, this notice should change with it rather than quietly expanding collection behind a generic privacy statement.

ORDINARY WEB INFRASTRUCTURE

A static website still has to be delivered over a network.

Like nearly every website, infrastructure used to deliver and protect NoRec.US may process ordinary technical information necessary to respond to requests, operate the service, diagnose failures, or protect it from abuse.

Depending on the hosting, DNS, CDN, and security configuration in use, this can include information such as IP addresses, request timestamps, requested URLs, HTTP headers, user-agent information, referrers, and security or error logs.

This is different from intentionally building a behavioral profile of a visitor. NoRec.US aims to minimize collection under its control while acknowledging that network infrastructure cannot truthfully be described as processing no information at all.

COOKIES AND LOCAL STORAGE

No consent theater for trackers that are not there.

NoRec.US does not intentionally use nonessential advertising or behavioral-tracking cookies on the public static site. The site therefore does not display a generic cookie-consent banner merely for appearance.

Browser-side storage may be used in the future for clearly local preferences or functionality. If the site begins using storage in a way that materially changes visitor privacy, this notice should be updated.

EXTERNAL SERVICES

Leaving NoRec.US means leaving this privacy boundary.

NoRec.US frequently links to government agencies, statutes, court records, public-record portals, vendor transparency pages, GitHub, news organizations, archives, and other external sources so readers can inspect underlying evidence.

Those services operate under their own technical systems and privacy practices. Following an external link may disclose ordinary connection information to that destination, and NoRec.US does not control how an external site processes it.

PUBLIC RECORDS AND RESEARCH

Public availability is not an excuse to publish irrelevant personal information.

NoRec.US publishes and analyzes government records and other public-source material to document surveillance technology, policies, contracts, deployments, capabilities, oversight, and related matters of public interest.

The project is not intended to build dossiers about private individuals. A record being legally obtainable does not automatically mean every piece of personal information inside that record is necessary to republish.

When practical, NoRec.US should avoid unnecessarily amplifying sensitive personal information that does not contribute to the public-interest purpose of the research. Original source records may nevertheless contain names, signatures, contact details, identifying information, or other material created and released by the originating agency.

CORRECTIONS AND PRIVACY CONCERNS

Context matters.

If material published by NoRec.US appears to expose sensitive personal information that is unnecessary to the public-interest purpose of the project, it can be raised for review. The same applies when a published record has been misunderstood, superseded, or presented without important context.

A request for review does not guarantee that accurate public-interest information will be removed, but privacy concerns should be evaluated rather than dismissed merely because information originated in a public record.

This notice describes the public website.

This privacy notice is intended to describe the NoRec.US public website and the project's publication practices. It is not a promise about the independent privacy practices of every service, government agency, vendor, archive, or source linked from the site.
