Illinois State Police says its Bureau of Identification maintains records relating to more than five million fingerprint files and uses an advanced Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) to help identify individuals and potential suspects.
SYSTEM ROLE
ISP's Bureau of Identification collects, maintains, and disseminates criminal-history information and processes fingerprint-based inquiries. Illinois also uses electronic Live Scan submissions for employment, licensing and other authorized background-check purposes.
